Mustafa Şentop, the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, stated: On the tenth of Muharram, a great tragedy in human history occurred, as the grandson of the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) and his companions were martyred on this day.

The Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly said: Imam Husayn (a.s.) is a symbol of resistance and steadfastness in the path of truth and justice, and of attaining the sublime rank of martyrdom. On this day, we once again comprehend the pain and suffering of Imam Husayn (a.s.). The understanding of this day should enhance the solidarity and unity of Muslims.
