The Banu Asad Ceremony: Commemorating the Burial of the Martyrs of Karbala

The Bani Asad procession is held every year on the 13th of Muharram, three days after Ashura, in Karbala. During this ceremony, mourning women symbolically carry spades, reed mats, and baskets, reenacting the burial of the holy bodies of the martyrs of Karbala by the women of the Banu Asad tribe.
