On the occasion of the first of Muharram, the day of commemoration of Mohtasham Kashani.

🔸In the city of Rangoon, the former capital of Myanmar (Burma), there is a beautiful mosque called Mughal Mosque, which according to its information board, was built in 1914 AD.

The poetry of Mohtasham Kashani in description of Ashura is written in Persian script on the wall of the prayer hall of the mosque.

There is also a cemetery nearby called Mughal Cemetery, many of whose graves have Persian inscriptions. These graves mostly belong to Indian Muslims (Mughals) and Iranians who settled in this city along the trade routes.

🔸Since many sources refer to the Indian Mughals as “Mughal,” it seems that the name “Mughal” for the mosque and cemetery is derived from this tradition.

🔸In the city of Abadan, there is also a beautiful mosque called Rangooniha, left behind by Myanmar workers (registered as a national heritage site).
