In commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a.s.), the African Activities Unit of the Religious Affairs Department at the Holy Husayni Shrine organized a series of mourning gatherings in various parts of Nigeria with widespread participation of mourners.

Sheikh Abdulghaffar al-Maliki, the head of the African Activities Unit, stated, “The Holy Husayni Shrine organized a series of mourning gatherings in various parts of Nigeria with widespread participation of mourners, in commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a.s.).”

He explained: “These Husayni gatherings, which were held in numerous regions of Nigeria, aimed to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a.s.) and to elucidate the objectives, values, and noble principles for which he rose and in whose path he sacrificed his life.”

He added: “This program extensively focused on elucidating the principles and values in order to protect and consolidate them; at the same time, it addressed how the Imam became a model embodying sacrifice and devotion, and the victory of truth and its defense in the history of Islam.”

He continued: “These activities witnessed the presence and engagement of the people in various regions, whereby the historical conduct and intellectual impact of the blessed Husayni revolution, and how to draw inspiration from its lessons and morals in the present time, were examined.”

The Religious Affairs Department, through the African Activities Unit at the Holy Husayni Shrine, continues to organize such intellectual and doctrinal activities in the African continent in order to strengthen religious awareness and propagate the principles of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and their human values.
