A group of Shiites and members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, led by Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqub Zakzaky (may God protect him), held the first Arbaeen procession of the year 1448 AH in the “Birnin Kudu” area of Jigawa State.

This ceremony was held last Saturday, the 3rd of Safar 1448 AH, with the widespread presence of Husayni mourners in the Birnin Kudu area, located in Jigawa State in northern Nigeria.

This procession began from two main routes. The first route started from the Miqat (designated gathering point) of “Babaldu” with the participation of mourners from the cities and villages of “Sara,” “Samamiya,” “Tsangarwa,” “Kiyako,” “Babaldu,” “Budinga,” and surrounding areas, continuing to the city of Birnin Kudu. The second route began from the Miqat of “Tsamiya” with participants from Birnin Kudu, “Igi,” “Yalwan Damai,” “Kafin Gana,” “Kangire,” and surrounding areas.

The participants, numbering in the hundreds, dressed in black clothing and carrying flags and images of prominent figures of the Resistance Front, including Imam Khomeini (r.a.), Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei (may his blessings endure), Sheikh Ibrahim Yaqub Zakzaky (may God protect him), and other martyrs of the Resistance, honored the memory of the martyrs of Karbala and the tragedies of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) after the Ashura event through elegy recitation and lamentation.

The ceremony concluded in a calm and orderly atmosphere, and a number of residents of the cities and villages along the route welcomed the Husayni mourners from the sidelines of the procession and expressed their sympathy with them.

The Birnin Kudu procession is considered the first Arbaeen ceremony of the year 1448 AH in Nigeria, and it is anticipated that various regions of the country will hold similar ceremonies in the coming days. According to the announced schedule, the final ritual of this year’s Arbaeen processions will be held in the capital of Nigeria, Abuja.
