The cultural discourse “Manifestation of Ashura Teachings in Today’s World” was held with the cooperation of the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad and the Cultural Dependency and Cultural House of our country with the Development and Planning Organization of Multan city.

This event sought to provide a platform for revisiting the vital role of Ashura teachings in responding to the intellectual and moral challenges of contemporary society, and to demonstrate how this cultural-religious discourse can chart the path of human guidance.

The session began under the chairmanship of Makhdoom Sayyed Imran al-Hasan Gilani, the head of the Anjuman-e-Islamia. In his opening speech, while explaining the global dimensions of the Ashura movement, he stated, “The Karbala event is not merely a historical event limited to time, but rather an eternal school for defending truth, justice, freedom, and resistance against oppression.”

He stated, “This cultural-religious discourse is an effective tool for confronting today’s complex challenges and can offer a practical model for promoting ethics and spirituality in human societies.”

During this session, prominent figures including Makhdoom Sayyed Zuhaib Gilani, Aamer Shahzad Siddiqui, Professor Dr. Shabbir Baloch, Sibtain Raza Lodi, Malik Taj Muhammad Taj, Mir Ahmad Kamran Magsi, Sayyed Murtaza Zaman Gardezi, and Noorul Amin Khakwani presented their views.

The speakers unanimously agreed that one of the clearest manifestations of the cultural-religious discourse of Ashura is standing against tyranny and adhering to divine values.

Noorul Amin Khakwani, explaining that patience, sacrifice, and devotion are the main pillars of the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), highlighted the necessity of connecting these concepts with the needs of today’s society to combat corruption and injustice.

In the concluding session, participants, while emphasizing the trans-historical nature of the Karbala movement, described it as a healing prescription for strengthening unity, honesty, tolerance, and service to society.
