Concurrent with the beginning of the month of Muharram, Kenya has witnessed the widespread holding of mourning gatherings for Imam Husayn (a.s.)—ceremonies centered on justice, resistance, and unity, showcasing a manifestation of the universal nature of Ashura’s message.

In the city of Mombasa, Kenya, concurrent with the third of Muharram, a special ceremony was held for students and adolescents. The program was supervised by Sheikh Yunus Mirsa, in which efforts were made to familiarize the younger generation with the ethical and educational conduct of Imam Husayn (a.s.).

In this ceremony, concepts such as sacrifice, truth-seeking, Islamic ethics, and social responsibility were explained to the students. The enthusiastic reception of the youth to this program demonstrated that Ashura culture continues to have a profound impact on the new generation.
