Hojat al-Islam Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalai, the representative of Grand Ayatollah Sistani and the religious trustee of the Holy Husayni Shrine, during a speech at the conclusion of a ceremony honoring the efforts made in serving the esteemed pilgrims—attended by Hassan Rasheed Jawad al-Abaychi, the director of the Shrine of Imam Husayn (a.s.), members of the board of directors, department heads, and a large number of relevant staff at the Holy Husayni Shrine—emphasized: Serving Imam Husayn (a.s.) is not limited merely to performing job duties, but is perfected through practical adherence to the way of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), fulfilling religious obligations, and avoiding prohibitions, and that one’s true station before God Almighty is measured by piety and adherence, not by job or administrative position.

The representative of Ayatollah Sistani, stating that gatherings in which the Holy Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) and his AhlulBayt (a.s.) are mentioned are highly blessed, cited narrations that emphasize the presence of angels in such gatherings and their being perfumed with the mention of the virtues of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), adding: Even the effect of this remembrance remains in that place after the gathering ends.

Explaining that adherence to the AhlulBayt (a.s.) is an extension of adherence to the Holy Quran, he cited the Hadith of Thaqalayn, noting that guidance is not achieved through love alone, but through following their way and adhering to their teachings, and that the earth will never be without the proof of God Almighty until the Day of Judgment.

The religious trustee of the Shrine of Imam Husayn (a.s.) emphasized that the honor of being associated with service to Imam Husayn (a.s.) must be accompanied by knowledge and adherence. He called upon all servants to be diligent in attending jurisprudential courses and scholarly lectures that strengthen their knowledge of religious rulings and the way of the AhlulBayt (a.s.), for they are more deserving than others to embody these principles in their daily conduct.

He further stated: Hierarchical promotion in administrative responsibilities is linked to job performance, but superiority before God Almighty is measured by adherence to obedience and piety. He expressed hope that all staff of the Holy Husayni Shrine would present a brilliant image of a committed believer and continue their mission of serving Imam Husayn (a.s.) in the best possible manner.

Sheikh al-Karbalai concluded by saying: This recognition we are now offering for your efforts, night vigils, and hardships during this pilgrimage is due to your success in the duties entrusted to you; but honor and ranking in stations are only through adherence to fulfilling obligations and avoiding prohibitions. Therefore, we ask you to be a mirror reflecting the language of the devout believer, and may God grant you success in providing better service in future pilgrimages and keep you steadfast in the honor of serving Imam Husayn (a.s.).
