The Basra Provincial Council stated in a statement: The security plan for the Arba’een pilgrimage in Basra Province will begin after holding a joint security conference with the presence of Aqil al-Furaiji, head of the Security Committee of the Basra Provincial Council, the Commander of Basra Operations, and the Provincial Police Chief.

At this conference, the components of the plan and its implementation mechanisms were reviewed and approved as part of the initial preparations for ensuring the security of the Arba’een pilgrimage.

According to the statement, al-Furaiji said: This plan includes the distribution of security sectors and axes in various areas of the province to guarantee the protection of Husayni processions (mawkibs), ensure the security of pilgrims’ movement, and strengthen security and stability.

He noted: At this conference, emphasis was placed on increasing the level of readiness, strengthening joint coordination among all security organizations, and employing the necessary capabilities for the success of the security plan, in a manner that contributes to providing a secure environment and support services for pilgrims heading to the holy city of Karbala for the Arba’een pilgrimage.
