The Director General of the Environmental Protection Department of Kermanshah Province, by calling for a “Green Vow” on the eve of Arba’een, has transformed the route of pilgrims into an arena for protecting nature—a movement that, alongside legal measures against “wildfire-setting,” focuses on reducing plastic waste and preventing fires in the province’s habitats.
Saeed Dezfulinejad, the Director General of the Environmental Protection Department of Kermanshah, stated: “This department, in cooperation with executive bodies, processions (mawkibs), and non-governmental organizations, has placed special programs on its agenda to reduce plastic consumption and manage waste.”
The Director General of the Environmental Protection Department of Kermanshah identified cultural promotion for the use of reusable or environmentally friendly containers, distribution of alternative items, and training for servants (khademin) and pilgrims as key strategies for maintaining the cleanliness of the pilgrims’ route.
Dezfulinejad called upon citizens to refrain from lighting fires in nature and, if necessary, to ensure they are completely extinguished after use.
He also emphasized: “In the event of observing any smoke or fire in areas under environmental management, the matter should be immediately reported to the relevant authorities to prevent the spread of damage to the province’s valuable habitats.”
