A group of 25 Indians of Iranian descent in the Pandabsar area of West Bengal, India, intend to donate blood on Ashura.

The donors are descendants of Iranian nomads who migrated to Pandabsar in the West Burdwan region over a century ago and settled there.

Currently, this community consists of 70 Shiite Muslim families, numbering about 300 people, who intend to donate their blood on Ashura during the days of mourning for Imam Husayn (a.s.).

“Rustom Ali,” who leads this community, stated, “The Iranian families contacted a local non-governmental organization to organize the blood donation camp. All of these individuals are donating blood for the first time, and eight of them are women.”

According to officials managing the blood donation camp, there is a blood crisis and a shortage of blood reserves. Additionally, in recent years, blood donation on Ashura has become more prevalent.
