With planning by the administration of the Georgian people and religious centers, as well as the spontaneous movement of Husayni mourners, these ceremonies began in cities and villages with Muslim populations in Georgia from the beginning of Muharram and will continue until the end of the first ten days of Muharram.

Mourners shed tears in remembrance of Imam Husayn (a.s.) and his loyal companions and emphasized following the culture of Ashura. These ceremonies, after the performance of the congregational Maghrib and Isha prayers, began with recitation of the Holy Quran and continued with speeches explaining the philosophy of Imam Husayn’s (a.s.) uprising, Rawda-khwani (eulogy recitation), elegy recitation, and chest-beating.
