Concurrent with the beginning of the month of Muharram, Burundi has witnessed the widespread holding of mourning gatherings for Imam Husayn (a.s.)—ceremonies centered on justice, resistance, and unity, showcasing a manifestation of the universal nature of Ashura’s message.

*Burundi; Promotion of the Reformist Message of Ashura

In the Republic of Burundi, the areas of “Buyenzi” and “Buterere” in the capital, Bujumbura, also witnessed mourning ceremonies on the second and fourth nights of Muharram.

In these gatherings, speakers emphasized the reformist dimensions of Imam Husayn’s (a.s.) movement, human values, and the necessity of confronting oppression and corruption. These programs were coordinated and supervised by Sheikh Jamal Abdullah Kaselo and played a significant role in strengthening the spiritual and religious atmosphere of the local community.
