Concurrent with the mourning days commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a.s.), security officials of Herat province have announced comprehensive preparations to ensure the security of religious ceremonies across the city and districts of this province.

Sayed Masoud Husayni, the spokesperson for the Herat Security Command, stated in an interview with the media that a high-ranking security delegation, led by Naqibullah Azizi (Security Commander) and including the Security Chief, the Intelligence Chief, and the Internal Security Director, has visited various locations and mourning centers. The purpose of these visits has been described as a thorough assessment of security gaps and ensuring the 100% readiness of forces to counter any potential threats.

During these visits, security officials held discussions with mosque imams, neighborhood representatives, and local elders, emphasizing the necessity of mutual cooperation. Security officials believe that the key to ensuring sustainable security during these days is coordination between ceremony organizers and security forces.

Security experts also believe that the active participation of citizens and the reporting of suspicious cases can play a decisive role in the grandeur and tranquility of religious ceremonies. On the other hand, elders and officials of religious councils in Herat, expressing satisfaction with the visible presence of security forces, described these measures as encouraging and reassuring for mourners.

The Tasu’a and Ashura ceremonies in Herat have always been recognized as a symbol of unity and solidarity among followers of different schools of thought, extending beyond a mere religious ritual. This year as well, with the measures taken and the presence of security forces at sensitive points, it is expected that thousands of citizens of Herat will mourn in a secure and orderly atmosphere.
