Concurrent with the days of Muharram mourning, security officials in Balkh Province announced the implementation of a special security plan to ensure the safety of mosques, Takya Khanas (Husayniyyahs), and Husayni mourners in Mazar-e-Sharif and the districts of this province, and emphasized that security forces are on full alert to ensure the calmest possible holding of these ceremonies.

Security officials in Balkh Province have announced that, on the occasion of the Muharram mourning days, a special security plan has been implemented in Mazar-e-Sharif (the capital of Balkh Province) and throughout the districts of this province.

Under this plan, security forces, with a widespread and round-the-clock presence around mosques, Takya Khanas, and venues hosting ceremonies, have taken responsibility for ensuring the security of the mourners.

In this regard, a group of religious scholars, referring to the teachings of Imam Husayn (a.s.) and the messages of the Ashura movement, emphasized the importance of unity, solidarity, and brotherhood among Muslims and called upon the public to draw inspiration from the human and Islamic values of this month.

On the other hand, citizens of Mazar-e-Sharif, while welcoming the security measures taken, called for further strengthening of the atmosphere of empathy and brotherhood among various segments of society and requested officials to provide the necessary grounds for the optimal holding of mourning ceremonies.

Mourning ceremonies for Imam Husayn (a.s.) and his companions are held every year with widespread participation of the people in various parts of Balkh Province. In addition to its religious significance, Muharram is recognized as a symbol of sacrifice, justice-seeking, and unity among Muslims, and ensuring security for the peaceful holding of these ceremonies is a priority for the responsible institutions in this province.
