Emphasizing that “the Ashura movement is a school for nurturing conscious and responsible human beings,” they noted that today, Islamic society needs the lessons of freedom and justice-seeking of this uprising more than ever.

Among the mourners of Herat, an atmosphere of empathy and brotherhood prevails. Many participants view the Muharram ceremonies as a golden opportunity to strengthen Islamic fraternity and avoid division.
