In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
«Ashura International Foundation» originated from various scientific, propagational, cultural, and research institutions related to the school of Imam Husayn(a.s.) which are active in the international arena.
This foundation was established in 2014 under the auspicious of a Board of Trustees, consisting of real personalities, and representatives of government bodies, as well as international organizations, and has been active since then.
Ashura International Foundation is affiliated with «the AhlulBayt(a.s.) World Assembly», and its objectives, strategies, and general policies are determined by the aforementioned Board of Trustees.
Currently, Ayatollah Mohammad Hassan Akhtari, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the AhlulBayt(a.s.) World Assembly, is the CEO of the Foundation.
The following is a brief introduction to the objectives and activities of the Ashura International Foundation.
Increasing global knowledge about the life of Imam Husayn(a.s.) and the Ashura culture,
Increasing insight and the intellectual level of the target societies about the Ashura,
Playing a central role in the Islamic world to confront the deviations and heresies regarding the Ashura culture,
Deepening religious thought and promoting dialogue between religions and religious schools of thought in the world,
Supporting religious and Islamic humanitarian activities,
Development of capabilities and advantages that are specific to the Shiite culture,
Neutralizing media and cultural evil propaganda and activities against AhlulBayt(a.s.) and Ashura culture,
Protecting and guarding the sanctity of Prophethood, Imamate, and Wilayah,
Strengthening the foundations and ability of cultural institutions and Islamic missionaries to revive Ashura culture,
Identifying and benefiting from the capacity of the cultural elites of the target countries,
Localization of cultural institutions active about Ashura in the target countries,
Increasing activities and training courses for missionaries, eulogists, and preachers for Imam Husayn(a.s.),
Strengthening and supporting popular gatherings related to Ashura,
Active presence in virtual space and the artistic fields,
Maximizing the use of written, visual, and audio media,
Purification of Ashura culture from distortions and heresies,
Special attention to the new generation to promote and develop the culture of freedom, confronting humiliation, and oppression.
Supporting the development of indigenous activities related to Ashura in different countries, especially in the Islamic world, through NGOs,
Explaining, promoting, and benefiting from the culture of martyrdom to achieve the freedom and rights of all people,
Identifying, organizing, and directing scientific, historical, and financial resources,
Establishing new cultural infrastructure and expanding services related to Ashura,
Formulating and carrying out appropriate work to organize and strengthen Hey’ats [singular: Hey’at. (a place or a group of people) in which people mourn for AhlulBayt (a.s.)], eulogists, and institutions who hold mourning ceremonies in other countries,
Identifying and responding to the needs of different sections of society (adolescents, youths, women, elites, etc.) regarding Ashura culture,
Production of artistic products regarding Ashura,
Creating windows on websites with the topic of “Ashura culture and the movement of Imam Husayn(a.s.)”
Conveying appropriate concepts and topics, through authentic historical texts, hadiths, Maqtal (A detailed description of the story of Imam’s martyrdom), etc.,
Support and intellectual feeding of missionaries and religious speakers who are sent abroad,
Organizing the dispatch of artistic groups regarding Ashura culture, such as Ta’zieh groups (Ta’zieh is a play inspired by a historical and religious event, especially the martyrdom of Imam Husayn(a.s.)),
Investigating and studying people’s reaction to Ashura, its rituals, and Arbaeen Great Walk,
Creating websites about Ashura,
Introducing original and authentic styles, rituals, poems, and methods of mourning, and encouraging poets, and those who write lamentations,
Strengthening the thoughts, traditions, and beliefs of the followers of other Islamic schools of thought, divine religions, and human schools, related to Imam Husayn(a.s.) and the Ashura Uprising,
Responding to accusations and doubts, and increasing knowledge, through various capacities, especially virtual space.
Ashura International Foundation consists of the following pillars:

The CEO is responsible for managing the Foundation, appointing the deputies and officials, and implementing the policies approved by the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors.
